Revolutionary
Theater Workshops (weeklong, intermediate/MS) : Children will
create, perform and respond within the drama content. Students will
engage in basic theater techniques for creating a character through
movement and voice. They will be introduced to guidelines for audience
and performer, and will become familiar with terminology and conventions
used in the art of storytelling/acting. Students will also be introduced
to the process of scripting a story (from the Page to the Stage) by
adapting a specific period of the American Revolutionary War to perform
as a drama.

Substance Abuse
Prevention/Red Ribbon Week (can be weeklong, intermediate – HS):
Adolescent health is an important issue, and Octavia brings her
storytelling background to bear upon issues like self-esteem, refusal
skills, personal responsibility and decision-making, and positive peer
support. Using role-play and critical thinking skills, Octavia helps
students to create their own stories (with happy endings!) while
exploring the decision-making and scripts necessary to making the right
choices in their own lives. A great way to cover arts content and teach
some important values in the process.
